He loved the Lord and going to church. He loved preaching and reading the bible. He had been the Assistant Pastor, Adult Sunday School teacher and Deacon at the Friendly Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Rio Linda, CA. He loved his family and family reunions. He always loved telling stories of growing up with his brothers and sisters in AK. His memory was vivid and colorful and humorous.

He will be deeply missed by everyone who’s heart he touched.

  1. Glenn. I'm Bill maddox, sorry ot hear of your loss of your dad. I'm married to Becky LaGrow now. She's wondered if you were around these days. We live in Redding! ARe you still in Sacramento area? 615-423-1498

  2. Herb was a man of virtues. I believe it was for this reason that God willed for our paths to cross, that I may learn from his examples. I met Herb late in his life, in June of 2012. I had the great honor and privilege of serving him in his needs when he and his wife Edith Faye became our first residents in our assisted living facility. A fine example of a gentleman, Herb was very gracious and loving, not one to complain, even when in pain. He had a lot of stories which he eagerly shared with wit and humor. I am confident to say that we all have become better people to have been touched by his life, brief as it may, and that the world would be a better place if there were more people like him. My wife and I will always treasure memories of Herb in our hearts. May he now enjoy eternal rest and peace with our Lord.

  3. Uncle Herb had so many wonderful qualities and stories. He regaled us with a story from every aspect of his life, and every family member and every friend. He loved it all and did not "hide his light under a bushel". No, he let it shine! How could I retell only one story that could sum up a life so well lived, and a man so dear? I suppose the simplest way would be to quote his lifelong mantra, "I love you!" Uncle Herb provided me with much comfort and consolation at times when I desperately needed it my life. We ended every visit with that same warm phrase, "I love you!" William Lee

  4. I can hear my Uncle say these words.
If you could see me now, you wouldn't shed a tear.
Though you may not understand why I'm no longer here.
Remember my spirit; that's the real me.
I'm still very much alive, Oh, if you could only see!
I've beheld our Father's face. I've touched my Savior's hand.
The angels all rejoiced as I entered the Promised Land.
Beyond the gates of pearl, I walked on golden streets.
I've wouched the walls of jasper, dipped my foot in the crystal sea.
The beauty is beyond words, nothing can compare.
I've seen your mansion; someday I will meet you there.
Allow Jesus to be your guide, His word will show you the way.
So, please, don't cry! We will meet again someday.

I was truly blessed to have had you as my uncle.
    Love,
    Kathy

  5. My dear Papa Herb, We will miss your cherry disposition. It was "never a dull moment" when we were with you. On that Friday afternoon before you left us, when I kissed you and Mama Faye goodbye, your smile was soooo bright. Then you said to me "drive safely, take care of yourself and treat your husband right!!!" and then you smiled. I never expected that would be the last time I would see you smile…We love you..Marilou and Warren

  6. Dad, there will not be a day that I do not remember you. I still cannot believe you are gone. Please look over Mom and your entire family from the heavens above. I Love You and Miss You So Much. Glenn

  7. Uncle Herbert always said, "You better get over here and visit me and Aunt Faye, or I am going to spank you with this paddle, not really, but you had better get over here and see us." He loved to visit everyone, and yes, he had stories to share! Love you, Uncle, miss you! See you in Heaven! 🙂

  8. Uncle Herb was such a sweet and wonderful man, he loved everyone, he was funny and caring. He had the best stories of him and his siblings growing up, that kind of Family love is hard to find. It's so heartbreaking having him gone, but I can imagine how happy he is in Heaven.

  9. I can hear amy beloved Uncle say these words.
