Our Story

Since Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chime's modest beginning as Grant Memorial Lawn in 1938, we have understood the significance of the role we play in helping families find peace during some of their darkest times. Our early days saw us mostly caring for young soldiers, who had been fighting in WWII. From this, we gained a deep understanding for honoring every life in a unique and special way. While times have changed, our commitment to honor the loved ones who have been entrusted to our care has only grown. Now, as Sunset Lawn, we are leaders in our profession. We take great pride in our work and are dedicated to serving our families with the highest integrity.

Today, we have grown to encompass more cemetery space than any facility in the Sacramento region. Our park provides an onsite funeral home and chapel, seven mausoleums, 11 acres for honoring cremated remains and 25 beautiful gardens. Some of these gardens are dedicated exclusively to clients with ethnic, cultural, religious or military affiliations. One of our gardens – Garden of Honor – flies flags from all branches of the military and is one of our most visited and requested sites. We take great pride in fulfilling the individual needs of families from the diverse communities we serve. Our mission has always been to develop a level of service that recognizes the importance of each life lived. At Sunset Lawn, we care for families when they need it the most.

A Thank You to Sherry Rios and Sandy Sargent. Thanks to both ladies that have helped me to get through this time of loss for me and the family...these two ladies have really made this a smooth transition for the entire family. I was in and out as to understand what was being said and they held my hand with the patience and understanding that was needed to go through this. If at this point of my life that was the most important thing that was needed. Thank you Sherry and Sandy you will never be forgotten. The service for my mother was super beautiful.
