  1. ..mrs. pickens was my teacher and principal, at North Avenue School in late 60's when she could paddle a student and call their parents, where they would get another when getting home. mrs.pickens was a downhome person. not only did she want was best for her son she also wanted best for each student. proper speech, posture, language,as well as life's fullfillment. I will always remember her for being a part of my education. thank-you-

  2. We will always remember Ginny as our favorite neighbor. She had a calming presence, so kind and so sweet. Her rose garden was something to behold. We can't look at a rose without thinking of her. She will be greatly missed.

  3. I would like to share a memory with the family of the Late Geneva Pickens especially Nate SPEARS. I came to know her when Nate SPEARS came to Africa in December 2005, whenever he saw something amazing he would talk of his Auntie,"I wish I could bring my Auntie to Africa, but I dont know if she can make it she is 94". When I heard the loss of his Auntie I could remember the touching words!. May her soul rest in peace.

  4. My mother-in-law and mother both have lived at Campus Commons, Geneva's last home. I often talked to her about her water excercises and how her day was going and was very unhappy to hear she had been having problems and had moved to Asbury Park. My mother-in-law is currently residing there also so I looked in on Geneva each day when I went to visit. I could see she was loosing ground rapidly. I didn't know she had been a teacher until I read her obituary but I should have guessed. She had the same way about her that my favorite aunt had who had been a teacher. Bet she was a good one and expected the best out of a student. I will be happy to make a contribution to UNCF in her name…….Sharon Lukehart
