Castine Jackson

Castine Jackson (Mother Jackson/Kate) was born in Boley Oklahoma on May 2, 1926. She was the fifth child of seven children. Born to the union of Pearl and Hattie Shanks.
Castine married Walter Edward Jackson into this union Milton Jackson was born. Castine was the loving mother to five children: Milton Jackson, Florinda Shelton, Maryann Jackson, Marie Bryant and Marilyn Bryant.
Mother Jackson accepted Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Back to the Bible, Church of God in Christ, until she became ill.
Mother Jackson enjoyed life and worked hard as a dedicated single parent. Castine drove delivery trucks for the City of Madera, California for several years. She then worked for Burkinson Richard Packing Company, where she later retired.
Mother Jackson enjoyed going to church and fishing. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and the homeless. Her passions included praying with and for other people and handing out lunches in her front yard to the neighborhood kids. Mother Jackson was a very forgiving person and had a giving heart. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was the glue of our family that kept us all together.
Castine is preceded in death by her son Milton Jackson, daughter Florinda Shelton, parents Pearl and Hattie Shanks, one brother and five sisters.
She is survived by three daughters; Maryann Jackson, Marie Bryant (Horace Jr.) and Marilyn Bryant (Horace Sr.), twenty one grandchildren; Shelley, Garrett, Stephen, Jeremy, Davon, Christerpher, Daimon, Johnnie, Kareena #1, Rhea, Horace III, Howie, Kareena #2, Kory, Bettye, James Jr., Adrianna, Keiarra, Keiwannd, Krystal and James III, forty eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
Mother Jackson was affectionately known as “Granny” by many.
Her family, neighbors, friends and church family respected and loved her dearly.
The loss of a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend. We all love and miss you very much!
The family invites friends to attend a visitation Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95838.
A funeral service Friday, September 26, 2104 at 11:00am at Back to the Bible, Church of God in Christ, 3251 Norwood Ave., Sacramento, CA 95838.
