Personal stories about mom’s special qualities:
Linda was loving, hard-working, tenacious, sassy and a bit of a perfectionist. Linda loved her family and friends. We have lots of friends we consider family. She recognized all these gifts came from GOD. Mom’s love language was food. If she cooked you a meal that meant she loved you. Even when camping she could cook a delicious meal (GBHOP). She was always willing to help a friend in need or stand up for people if the situation was unjust. Her children remember her going to work even if she didn’t feel well, many times having more than one job. She would say, “If you can get your head off your pillow, then get to work.” or “Take a shower you’ll feel better.” Baking Christmas cookies and candies with our cousins became a yearly tradition. She taught her daughter Monique to sew and bought her a sewing machine when she went to Nebraska for a visit. Monique recently called her in tears having difficulty hemming Megan’s prom dress. Linda told her, “Take a deep breath and you can could do it!” with her reassurance Monique hemmed the dress and she looked beautiful. She loved and spoiled the grandbabies, sometimes keeping secrets to keep them out of trouble. I see many of her qualities in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: loving, intelligent, hard-working, determined and sassy. We will always remember her cozy hugs, beautiful smile and flashing her trademark “I love you” in sign-language!
