Gilbert Lee Roy Ross

Gilbert passed away peacefully at age 92 in Redding, CA on January 1, 2021. He was born in Walnut Ridge, AR on December 22, 1928.
He is predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Ruth Marie; his parents, Ardy and Gertrude Ross; and his brother, Jerry Donald Ross. Gilbert is survived by his current wife of 14 years, Norma of Redding, CA. He will be missed greatly by his surviving family members: Sister Alice (Noel) Leerskov of Claremore, OK, Son Michael Ross (Taya) of Champaign, ILL, Son Mark Ross (Ana) of Stockton, CA, Daughter Brenda Robinson (Ted) of Crescent City, CA, grandchildren: Ret.Veteran Sgt. Jacob Ross (Melinda), Sgt. John Ross (Geumyoung), Megan Ross-Lynch (Mike), Larissa Nowak (Juan), Mallory Nowak, Austin Nowak, Miles Ross, James Ross, 5 step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Gilbert was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and achieved a BS in Forestry at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a dedicated registered Forester for American Forest Products, later Georgia Pacific, while living in Jackson, CA. Gilbert, aka Gib or Gil, was a dedicated Deacon, a studied teacher of the scriptures, and an energetic Song Leader alongside his pianist wife Beverly at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed family gatherings and playing guitar while singing.
