Dorothy Ver Brugge, age 82 died peacefully on February 10, 2017.
Dorothy was born in Oklahoma City, OK on January 27, 1935. She was born to Robert Johnson, a farmer and Callie Glass. She had two sisters and one brother. Mary Johnson, May Johnson and Billy Johnson. She had a rough childhood growing up as a farmers daughter. They traveled from field to field throughout the years. She was never afraid of hard work.
If her roof needed repairing, she had no problem getting up there with her hammer and nails.
She loved the Lord and could quote scriptures for most any life situations that came about. Dorothy was a warrior and a great witness for the Lord. In her younger days she would make peanut brittle and sell it for the church door to door to all the businesses on Watt Avenue. She received the nickname as the Peanut Brittle Lady.
She had a great sense of Humor.
Her favorite activity was fishing and camping. She mostly enjoyed ocean fishing. She could reel in some mighty big fish.
She was a dedicated mother, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her children. Dorothy cared for her handicap daughter Helen up to the time of her passing.
She was a great cook and loved to feed whoever came by. Dorothy is survived by 6 children, 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
