Walter Junior Derden's Obituary
Walter Junior Derden was born August 8, 1937 in Grenada, Mississippi and passed away after a long illness on July 27, 2016. He loved trucking from an early age and as an owner/operator he had a long professional trucking career for 65 years.
He was a master storyteller. . He loved talking about the south and anything western. He enjoyed the food from home especially black eyed peas, pork chops, mustard greens, yams, buttermilk and cornbread to name a few. Walt was an avid western movie watcher and loved Clint Eastwood and action movies.He served his community as a 32-degree Mason at the the Masonic Blue Lodge, Sara Craft.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon L. Derden, Children, Walter James Latham (Emma),
Cynthia Sykes, Walter Dirden (Millicent), Janice Faye Duerson (Minister Frank), Bonnie Jean Anderson, Jewell Trotter (Todd), Rufus, Reginald Winters (Jessica), Yvonne Frierson (Ricard), Valerie Kay Ingram and Janae Yvette Derden. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings Joe Derden, Barbara Derden, Claire Bounds, Annette Ellis, Minnie Pearl Hayes (Roy), Charles Ellis (Ruthie), I.J. Ellis, Jr. aka Asad Mohummaed (Carrie) and Joanne Sykes (Sidney),
He is preceded in death by his parentss Earl Derden and Aranda Ellis, brothers Macleod Derden, Robert (Sonny) Derden and sisters Bernice Bounds and Dorothy Derden.
