Vessie L Bingham's Obituary
Vessie Luree Campbell Bingham born November 2, 1929 to William and Lillian Campbell in Broderick, CA has passed away from a brief bout of cancer on September 13, 2015. She attended elementary school in Cool and Penryn CA; high school briefly at Placer High and St. Joseph’s Academy in Sacramento. At 16 years old she thought she knew more than anyone else and married Claude R. Bingham Sr. She was right. A longtime resident of Rio Linda she raised her 6 children there and is survived by all: Claude R. Bingham Jr (Bernie), Sandra Smith (Kent), Linda Hernandez, Pamela Cannon (Drew), Joel Edgar Bingham (Maureen) and Laura Bingham(Raymond) and Satomi Harada and over 20 grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren. A strong advocate of education, she began her own journey at 44 earning her GED high school diploma, her AA from American River and her BS in Social Work at CSUS. She spent the next 20+ years working with at risk students throughout Sacramento including Highlands and Grant High Schools. She loved her work and didn’t retire until she was in her 70’s. She traveled across the United States, Caribbean Islands, and even South Africa visiting her children, and for pleasure. She enjoyed quilting blankets for her children, and reading historical romance novels. She was a vivacious woman who dearly loved her family and her sweet dogs Sheba and Baby Cleo. She is missed. Viewing will be held September 17, 4-7:00pm Sunset Lawn 4701 Marysville Blvd. Sacramento. Her funeral will be September 18, 11:00am LDS Chapel 1 3621 Elverta Road, Antelope CA.
