Velma Temple Jacques' Obituary
Velma Temple Jacques, 81 departed this life on May 7, 2017. She was born on August 21, 1935 in Pemiscot, Missouri to WilIie Simpson Sanders and Laura Brisco Sanders. She was the youngest of 13 children. She moved to Sacramento, California at the age of nine after the passing of her mother. She began attending St. John Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Davis. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at the age of twelve, under Pastor J.D. griffin. She was one of the founding members of the church and she loved serving the lord. She was a member of the usher board, youth choir, Sunday school mission, food pantry and Loving Dove ministry.
Velma attended Grant High school and graduated in 19953. After graduation, she met and married Charles Temple (deceased) and to this union two children were born; Enrique Charles Temple (deceased) and Randy Stuart Temple. She later married Nolan Jacques (deceased) and from this union had one son Darryl Glenn Jacques. She retired from UC David Medical Center where she worked for 21 years. She also worked for Arco Arena for 20 years and provided in home care service to her beloved family members. She dedicated many years of her life to volunteering at the Western Service Workers Association fighting for social justice and change.
Velma enjoyed eating, cooking, fishing, bowling, volunteering and traveling around the world.
She was cherished by all people that knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her kind and generous spirit was only matched by her sassy personality and overwhelming smile.
Velma was preceded in death by her father, Willie Simpson Sanders; mother, Laura Brisco Sanders; son, Enrique Charles Temple; brothers, Leonard Sanders, Willie Clifton Sanders, Eddie Sanders, Joseph Sanders, Odie Sanders, Hezekiah Sanders and baby boy Sanders; sisters, Nancy Williams and Hattie Sanders. Velma leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Randy Stuart Temple (Anita) and Darry Glenn Jacques; her grandchildren, LaTrisha Temple, Natalie Temple, Learlene Temple, Dedrick Temple, Angela Temple, Princeton Adair, Lundasia Temple, Raionna Temple and Aaliyah Ayoub; brothers, Willie Lee Sanders (Margaret), Melvin Sanders and Geneva Griffin. In addition, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
