Theora Wash's Obituary
Theora Dolores Wash-Obituary Theora Delores Wash was born in Shuqalak, Mississippi, February 26, 1934,
to the late Mack Henry and Thelma Ruth Sanders. Theora was the fourth child
of 10 children born to this union. In the early 1940's, the family relocated to
Ha??esburg, Mississippi where she grew up and attended school. In 1962,
the family head north and relocated in San Francisco, California. In July 1970,
Theora met and married the late Frederick Wash. Together they happily raised
and nurtured seven children: Lynn, Tony, Debbie, John (Marvin),
Kenny, Karen (Vanessa), and Lynette. In 1974, the family relocated to
Sacramento, California. Theora was an avid fan of both the San Francisco 49ers
and Giants and looked forward to hosting Super Bowl parties. She loved to fish
and enjoyed cooking, bar-b-quing (her southern-style bar-b-que sauce
was bottled and sold in Sacramento at one time), picnicking, and hosting family
gatherings of all sorts, the highlight being the 'Gatheright-Sanders Family Reunions.'
Theora spent most of her life as a homemaker and provided day-care for many of her
grandchildren, family, and friends children. She was an excellent cook and
seamstress, and enjoyed tending other people's needs. Theora was known to create
dress patterns and sew dresses or her daughters and granddaughters for many
occasions.
On February 26, 2013,Theora Delores Wash, answered a higher
calling and was called from earth to glory. Theora is preceded in
death by her husband, Frederick Wash; parents, Mack &
Missionary Ruth Sanders; three brothers , Archie B. Sanders,
Willie Lee 'Bill' Sanders, and Ezra 'Don' Sanders; three
grandchildren, Corey Belton, Micah Thompkins, and
Kenny Hann.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memory: three brothers, John
Sanders and Clyde Sanders of Sacramento, California, Earl
Sanders of San Francisco, California; three sisters, Gloria
Howard and Ruth Ann Joseph of San Francisco, Nancy Green of Chicago, Illinois;
three son, Tony Thompkins of Sacramento, son and daughter-in-law Marvin and
Sharon Thompkins, of San Diego, Kenny Hann, of Sacramento; three daughters,
Lynn and Debbie Thompkins of Sacramento, daughter and son-in- law, Vanessa
and Kenny Belton of Sacramento; other survivors include 21 grandchildren,
22 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Her life was indeed a blessing to all. Mama, we will
miss you, but we know we are better people because
of your life and warm touch. Thank you for all the
love and wisdom you provided to those who were
blessed to know you!!
