Thelma Rufina Holm's Obituary
Thelma Holm passed away at her home in Cameron Park, CA, on April 29, 2024, at the age of 98. Thelma was born on October 19, 1925, in Trego County, Kansas, to Fred and Marie Mai. She was the 5th child and eldest daughter of their 13 children, and a devoted wife of 54 years to Burton Holm, who preceded her in death in 2007. Thelma is survived by their three sons, Michael, Gary (Dawn), and Kevin Holm, and daughter, Janis Perna; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister, Geri Wooldridge, and brothers, Vernon (Janice), Fred, George, and Tom (Jane) Mai.
Thelma adventured from Kansas to California in her 20s and was an avid bowler, leading her to meet Burton at a bowling alley in Sacramento, CA, where they quickly began building a life together. Thelma became a loving homemaker, raising their four children and being actively involved in the PTA, scouting, and little league. Thelma was proud of her German heritage, attended all Mai Family Reunions held across the country, and enjoyed hosting and attending local family gatherings. She also enjoyed card games and puzzles, loved to dance, travel and camp, enjoyed baking and canning, and was always on the move, embarking on her first cruise in her 80s. Thelma filled her years with love and adventures, and will be missed by so many.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, from 11:00-1:30 at the Sierra Pines at Sun City, 7600 Whistlestop Way, Roseville, CA 957470. Private inurnment services will be at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes in Sacramento, CA.
