Mr. Terry Dean Barnes, age 83, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 15, 1940, in Calhoun County, Illinois, Terry was the son of the late Marvin and Minerva Barnes. He was preceded in death by his five brothers: Merlin, Frank, Fred, Leo, and Jesse Barnes; his sister, Eileen Barnes Siemens; and his grandson, Dana Good Jr.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Shirley Barnes; his sister, Doris Barnes Thomas; and their three children: Theresa Stevens (Barry), Wayne Barnes (Elaine), and Tim Barnes. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Scott Stephens, Robyn Leier, and David Buchanan, as well as five great-grandchildren: Logan and Emily Stephens, Dylan Leier, Ruby Gustave-Buchanan, and Banks Buchanan, along with many dear extended family members.
Mr. Barnes proudly served in the United States Air Force from January 1959 to November 1962. Following his military service, he dedicated 45 years to working at John Deere Tractor, starting in 1962. In addition, he served as a reserve firefighter for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department beginning in 1976, a role he held for an impressive 47 years.
Terry had a passion for adventure and loved spending time outdoors, particularly enjoying Jeeping and four-wheeling. His spirit of adventure and dedication to family and community will be cherished by all who knew him.
