Sandra Noel Stewart's Obituary
Sandra Noel Stewart Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend Sandra Noel Stewart was born to Denise Marie Walker on February 2, 1968, at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco, California. She was later lovingly adopted and raised by Rico Augustus Stewart, who became her devoted father. Sandra was called home on March 4, 2026. From an early age, Sandra carried a spirit of strength and care. As a young girl, she lovingly supported her siblings during challenging times, often stepping into the role of a second mother. That nurturing heart would become one of the defining qualities of her life. Sandra attended Unilex College, where she earned her Paralegal Certificate in 1989. She went on to work with the San Francisco Coalition on Homelessness, where she was deeply committed to helping families—especially single mothers with children—find support, stability, and hope. Though Sandra faced personal challenges along her journey, her love for her children became the turning point in her life. With determination and faith, she transformed her path and dedicated herself fully to being the best mother she could be. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly to provide, protect, and pour love into her children, raising them with strength and resilience. In 2005, after being ministered to by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at the West Oakland Church of Christ. Under the pastoral guidance of Dr. Ammar Saheli, she deepened her understanding of God’s Word and grew steadily in her faith, believing each day was a new opportunity to grow, do better, and extend grace. In her final days, she continued in that faith, being ministered to by Sam Morris and the Bay North Sacramento Church of Christ. Even after retiring due to medical challenges, Sandra never allowed her circumstances to define her. She remained committed to serving others—whether by helping friends and neighbors find resources, offering guidance, or simply being a listening ear during difficult times. Her presence was a source of comfort, wisdom, and quiet strength. Sandra was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, Alonzo, Ronado, and Nandi, and a caring mother figure to her adopted daughter and niece, Mykesha. She found immense joy in her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She also had a playful and competitive spirit, especially when it came to board and card games. Whether it was Monopoly, Life, Spades, or Dominoes, Sandra played to win—and made sure everyone else had a good time trying. Sandra is survived by her four siblings: Raymond Stewart (Joanna), Damon Stewart Sr., Lisa Heard (Jason), and Ramona Stewart; her three children, Alonzo Phillips, Ronado Howard, and Nandi Howard; and her beloved grandchildren, Ailani, Cemari, Cevian, Emeryelle, and Avianna.
She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Mykesha, Tony, Shamori, Ayinde, Damon, Sade, Eevie, Miles, Jason Xavior, Jordan, and Isabella; and her great-nieces and great-nephews: Makai, Ace’seon, Soliel, Kevin, and Alaya. She was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Marie Walker; her father, Rico Augustus Stewart; her grandmother, Fern Esther Puskarich; and her grandfather, Charles Carl Puskarich.
