Roy Williams' Obituary
Sacramento, CA — Roy Williams, 73, died peacefully on March 9, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Roy and his wife Judy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year with a weekend family gathering. He leaves behind his wife Judy Williams; his children, Richard Davis, Trevor Williams, Sandra Davis and Jeanette Williams, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grand children. He is also survived by 7 of his siblings, Paul, Martin, Ike, Dorothy, JoAnn, Mamie Jean, Mary, numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends. Proceeded in death by parents, Berlin and Azilee, and brother Bob and sister Dossie.
Born in Riverside, CA, Roy attended Norte Del Rio high school and Consumnes River College. Roy resided in the Sacramento area before moving to Humboldt County where he and Judy lived for the past 5 years.
Roy served proudly in the US Army and was stationed in Germany and was on duty during the Berlin Wall crisis. After leaving the Army, Roy became a bus driver for the Regional Transit District of Sacramento where he worked for more 15 years until becoming an officer of the Amalgamated Transit Union #256, for the next 19 years. He eventually held the position of president until he retired.
Active in his community, Roy could be seen at Loaves & Fishes each holiday helping those less fortunate and providing hot meals for families in need. In addition, he cooked countless meals at the annual Labor Day Union picnic.
A kind, gentle and honorable man will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
The family will be saying their last good-bye at a gravesite service on 21st day of March at Sunset Lawn, Chapel of the Chimes cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to your favorite charity, the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
