Rosemary Jane Stayton's Obituary
Rosemary Stayton, best known as Rosie, went to heaven on June 28, 2018, after battling a long and difficult illness. She went peacefully in her home with her son Don, holding her hand. Rosie was born October 18, 1935 in Wisconsin. She moved from there to Oregon and finally ended up in Sacramento California. Rosie lived in Sacramento for many years and called it home. Rosie leaves behind her daughter Sallie Bittle, and 5 son’s, Wayne Warne, (Nora) Terry Warne, Nick Stayton, Don Stayton, and Darius Stayton (Kaycee). She also leaves behind her brother Leonard Gardner and sister Gilda Doe, along with her grandchildren Dana O’Brien, Tyreena Norred , Darius Jr. Stayton and Valand Stayton. Rosie was such a loving women, she welcomed Cecilia and Crissy into her family as her (additional) kids. Needless to say this gave Rosie many more grandchildren and great grandchildren. Once Rosie made a friend, she had a friend for life and thought of them just like family. Rosie was happiest when her grandchildren and great grandchildren came by to see her. She had 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. As you can see Rosie had her hands full and was busy trying to keep up with all of the birthdays, special occasions, and locations of each and every one of them. There was one thing for sure, Rosie was loved by many and she called all of them “Family”. Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Walter & Iva Gardner, her loving husband Bill Stayton, her brother Lloyd Gardner, and her great grandson Christian Louis.
During her 82 years, she had a full and happy life. When Rosie was not chasing a grandchild around, she loved putting puzzles together. The difficult puzzles she had completed, would be glued together, framed, and hung on her wall as “art”, and of course to show others her “accomplishments”. She also loved to travel. Her favorite places to travel were Oregon and Reno. Rosie would love to find willing participants to travel with her. Many times she did not give you much notice, and those adventures were the best! On one of those adventures while she was in Oregon she saw a “rock garden”, which she thought was absolutely beautiful. So on her way back home she made many stops to collect many beautiful and unusual rocks. When she got home, she made herself a beautiful “rock garden” and Rood Ave never looked the same.
Rosie loved to camp and enjoyed the outdoors. She also loved to have family barbeques. She was known for her home made rolls, cinnamon rolls, bell peppers and fried potatoes. If you have never had the opportunity to sample her cooking, you have truly missed out.
We want to thank all of Rosie’s team of caregivers and hospice workers. You always treated her with love, dignity and respect. We could not have endured this painstaking time in our lives without you by our side.
Rosie will be sorely missed by many. One more time our family chain is broken, but one by one it will be linked again.
Visitation will be July 5, 2018 from 4pm – 7pm and graveside services will be July 6, 2018 at 1pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes 4701 Marysville Blvd, Sacto., Ca. Family gathering to follow at 3724 Willow St., Sac, Ca immediately after. All are welcome
