Rose Marie Volk's Obituary
Rose Marie (nickname “Posie) was the beloved wife of Jerry Volk who preceded her in death 19 months ago. They attended Strong Vincent High School in Erie, Pennsylvania as high school sweethearts. They wed on August 9, 1953 and were married for 62 years. They moved to California in 1966 with 3 sons and a daughter, in 1969 had another son and raised their family of 5 in Redwood City. She worked for San Mateo County as the Executive Assistant to the County Clerk where she retired after 20 years.
Posie was known for her cooking and baking, endive soup and spaghetti sauce are a couple of her famous recipes. Her home was always a place of warmth; she welcomed everyone with a hug and a smile. She spent a lot of time on baseball and softball fields supporting her children, grandchildren and husband by attending their games and being their cheerleader. She was an excellent bowler and enjoyed playing in a league for many years with her husband and friends. She was a very competitive card player and Pinnocle was her favorite game. SHE WAS SO FUNNY, even in her last hours she was making everyone smile. Her favorite get-a-way place was Thunder Valley Casino; she loved playing the “Buffalo” slot machines.
Posie is survived by her five children: Robin Volk and Stephen Price of Fair Oaks, California; Bobby and Kim Volk of Elk Grove, California; Rick and Iris Volk of Reno, Nevada; Russ and Laura Volk of Shingle Springs, California; Ron and Laura Volk of Kilgore, Texas.
She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Melissa (Volk) Wagers of Salem, Oregon; Michelle (Volk) Hillman of Redding, CA; Ryan and Sara Volk of Walnut Creek, California; Dana Volk of Healdsburg, California; Jarrod Volk of Reno, Nevada; Janaye Volk of Silver Spring, Maryland; Kyle & Jack Volk of Shingle Springs, California; Jordyn & Tanner Volk of Elk Grove, California; three great grandchildren: Paige & Ashton Wagers of Salem, Oregon; Easton Volk of Walnut Creek, California
She passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones she lived for, laughed with and loved with all of her heart. Mom will be missed each and every day.
