Robert Anthony Spillard
Robert Anthony Spillard, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2020 at Regency Place Assisted Living. Born in Sacramento on May 13, 1927 to Ernest and Lucy (Hoosier) Spillard where he was a resident until his death.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, June (Herrmann) Spillard; daughter Kathleen (Spillard) Howton; son Victor Spillard; granddaughters, Angela Overbay, Rachael Spillard, and Sarah Spillard; and great-grandsons, Michael and Gabriel Overbay.
Robert joined the Army shortly before the end of WW II and served for two years. After his honorable discharge he spent time working at Southern Pacific Railroad then spent 37 years as an aircraft mechanic at McClellan AFB. After retirement he finally had time to do the things he loved, gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Robert enjoyed the little things in life and nice glass of wine. When he wasn’t planning family gatherings he could be found at his farm tending his beloved garden.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
