Robert Wayne Cullifer's Obituary
Robert Wayne Cullifer, 69, of Sacramento, CA, passed away on July 1st after a 16 month fight with esophageal cancer.
Robert was born on July 6, 1952 to Joan Thomas in Monterey, CA. After Robert graduated from Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, CA in 1970, he surrendered to the call of God and served as a minister thereafter. In the 70's and 80's he pastored churches in Rio Dell, CA, Lakeview, OR, (served as Oregon State Missionary) and Valley Springs, CA. For the last 33+ years, Robert served as the Pastor of Landmark Baptist Church in Folsom, CA, until ill health forced his retirement.
In 1971, Robert met Debra at Cypress Baptist Church. They were married in 1972 and have 3 children: Jonathan, Jeremy, & Daniel, and 9 grandchildren: Blake, Samuel, Samantha, Ethan, Nevyn, McKinzee, Kirstin, Jaiden, and Nylan.
Robert was an avid historian, with specific interest in Baptist History (Chairperson of the California Missionary Baptist History and Archives Committee) and family genealogy. He served as a docent and then the president of the Folsom Historical Society for several years. He was also an excellent photographer, earning the nickname, "Bobarazzi." He’s the reason the Sacramento Valley Missionary Baptist Association has had so many memorable pictures in the minute books.
Robert was predeceased by his grandmother Adelaide, mother Joan, aunt Betty, brother Chuck and sister Sheri. In addition to his wife, 3 children, and 9 grandchildren, Robert is survived by his sister Debbie, and brothers Bill and Mike; many nieces and nephews and beloved in-laws.
Services will be held at Landmark Baptist Church in Folsom, CA on Monday July 11th at 11am and will be Live Streamed via the church’s Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to this GoFundMe
( https://gofund.me/13c81aef),
a campaign to cover funerary, medical, and mortgage expenses for the love of his life and bride of almost 50 years, Debra.
