Raymond Haney's Obituary
Raymond 'Ray' Haney was born in Texarkana Arkansas on May 30, 1920 to his mother Loreanor Franklin. As her only child, the two were inseparable.
Ray met and married Helen Mae Amie and welcomed their first of nine children, Ray Haney Jr. Shortly after Ray and his family moved to California, settled, and had eight more children.
Ray was a hard working provider for his family. He worked construction with the Laborers' Local 185 of Sacramento, California for over 50 years. He received several honors and recognition for his loyalty, integrity, service, and interest in this union. In addition, Ray was a loyal humanitarian, serving as a member of various organizations such as: Red Cross, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento Fire Department, Easter Seal, Wounded Warrior Project, Cancer Society, and Boy and Girls club, just to name a few. He was also involved in several presidential campaigns.
Ray was a very compassionate and outgoing man and in the mist of everything, he would make time for family, friends, and the entire Del Paso Heights/ Strawberry Manors area. If he was not fishing or occupied with yard work, you could find him in his front yard giving away all sorts of goodies to the children and even the adults in the neighborhood. Everyone was family to Ray'he excluded no one! He made everyone call him 'Grandpa'. If you passed Ray's house you could expect a greeting. He loved celebrating holidays with decorations in his yard, and he loved animals. We will truly miss him!
Ray's mother Loreanor Franklin, wife Helen Mae Haney, son Ray Haney Jr., twin daughter Kathy Haney, son-in-law Brother Joseph, and his beloved dogs 'Dongo' and 'Dan' precede him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children from oldest to youngest, James Haney (Rose), Carolyn Jennings (Leo), Lee Verne Haney (Sheila) Delores Walthour (Daniel), Glen Haney, Mary Haney, and Pamela Haney (W.C. Spivey); 33 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; 2nd great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; uncles; aunts; cousins; and many dear friends. We all loved him very much and we will never forget him.
