Griffith, Raymond Vance's Obituary
Raymond Vance Griffith, 88, of Cameron Park CA passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025 in the presence of his wife, Nancy Nadean Griffith. They had been married for 69 years at the time of his passing. Ray was born on February 18, 1936 to Percy and Dorothy Griffith in San Diego, CA and moved to Rio Linda, CA as a child finishing high school at Grant High School.
He met Nancy Nadean Riddle of Erwin, TN while she was visiting CA with her brother in 1955. They were soon a couple and married on December 3, 1955 in Chesterfield, SC. They had three sons: Gregory Vance, Edward Brian and David Allan.
Ray served in the Air Force Reserves for many years even during the time he had a wife and young children. He worked essentially his entire career for Edison Brothers managing multiple stores throughout the West including Alaska and Hawaii. His career led him to moves to Baltimore, MD and Kansas City, MO but he primarily resided in Rio Linda, CA raising his family and living next door to his parents.
Like his father, he was always interested in aviation and had hobbies of building and flying model planes. He was an integral member of the Methodist Church in Rio Linda and served in many capacities over the years.
Ray will be remembered for his cheerful disposition and ease of laughing or making a joke which was evident even in his last days.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David, and his sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his sons Ed (wife Cheryl) and Greg (wife Nancy) and his siblings Linda Griffith and Bill Griffith. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, David Griffith, Jill Jaeger, Sierra Long and Chris Griffith and eight great-grandchildren, Sydney and Kameron Griffith, Austin and Clive Jaeger and Savannah, Autumn, Sawyer and David Long.
A small private service is to be held with family and friends. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
