Rafael Placencia's Obituary
PLACENCIA, Rafael C.Rafael was born on January 31, 1929, in Capilla de Milpillas, Jalisco, Mexico to Gregorio and Inez Placencia. He passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Rafael came to California in 1950. Always a hard worker, he did construction work throughout Northern California and was most proud that he helped in the construction of Folsom Dam. In 1964, while simultaneously holding down his construction job, Rafael opened the first of what would become three restaurants, Las Altenitas.Rafael will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Rufina; and his children, Jesus Meza, Jubentino (Marta) Placencia, Olivia (Hector) Portela, Alicia (Dale) Burney, Rafael (Cindy) Placencia, Lidia (Manuel) Armas, and Pedro (Sherie) Placencia. He was preceded in death by his son, Enrique (DeDe) Placencia. Rafael is also survived by three brothers, two sisters, twenty-seven grandchildren, four great-grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A celebration of Rafael’s life and legacy will be held on Wednesday, August 9th at 10:00 am at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd. in Sacramento. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 4-8 pm at the same location.
