Rev. Maureen White, EdDWritten by: Reverend Maureen White, EdDDearest Patty:When I was first hired at the Chancellors’ Office, I was housed in Student Services, since there were no office spaces in my division, Workforce & Economic Development. You graciously welcomed me. I invited you to walk with me around Capitol Park so that we had exercise, and an opportunity to just catch up with our personal and professional adventures. I felt much compassion for all that you were navigating in life, with being a single mother, going through a divorce, and taking care of your father, as well as the pressures and responsibilities of a very full FT job. You beamed whenever you talked about your son Carlos, and then were thrilled when he found the love of his life. When our respective divisions moved to the 6th floor, we had fewer opportunities to just take a walk. There was so much sadness when your father passed away, then were being treated for cancer. I saw you less and less at work. My blessing for you, Carlos and your family is for this life experience and transition to be transformative for all of you. May your spirit always be with Carlos and your family, friends and colleagues, as you find the peace you so needed in this lifetime.
