Rakestraw, Ora (Grandma Ora)
Ora passed away peacefully in her home at the Chateau Park Carmichael, CA. on May 31, 2013.
She was born in Birmingham, AL on August 9, 1918.
She fulfilled her childhood desire to teach children in a classroom setting. She said, 'First the kids must learn to read, and then they read to learn.' Ora often expressed her love with this phrase, 'I LOVE YOUR BONES! ' After 94 years of service for God's purpose, Ora was carried home to be with The Lord. We will celebrate her life with a Memorial Service on June 14, 2013 at 10:00 am. Services will be held at New Testament Baptist Church, 6746 34th Street, Sacramento, CA 95660. A repast will immediately follow services. A private burial has been held at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park, Donations in Ora's memory can be made to the Foster Grandparent Program of Sacramento, CA
