Norma Bell Craighton's Obituary
Norma Bell Craighton passed away after a short illness the morning of Saturday March 8, 2014 in Citrus Heights California. She had just celebrated her 103rd birthday with family and friends two weeks before. She was born February 22, 1911 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Benjamin A and Ora Z Latham. One of eight children .She was married to Ray Craighton from February 19, 1930 until his death in April 1974.
She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved to work in the yard and keep a vegetable garden, play cards and go fishing. She has lived on the same parcel of land in Elverta, CA since the early 40’s which or originally a small farm, raising various farm animals, chickens, rabbits, pigs cows and last but not least fishing worms. The grandchildren loved to go play at grandma and grandpa’s farm. They raised 5 children, Mary Jo, Dorothy , Rosalie, Elva and Bruce. She loved her family greatly, she treated her children and grandchildren’s spouses as if they were her own and they all loved her for it. The extended family spent many wonderful holidays there. In her younger years she enjoyed fishing and she passed on that love to many of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She very much enjoyed family visiting, her sitting in her recliner just taking it all in. She got a little hard of hearing in her later years and so she just nodded as if she could hear everything that was said with a big smile on her face .All of her grandchildren adored her even though many lived far away and could not see her as often as they liked. When they got close to Elverta She was the one person they wanted to make sure they see. She is survived by Mary Jo Smith of Dexter, Oregon, Dorothy and Her spouse George Campbell of Elverta, CA, Rosalie Barlow of Sacramento, CA, Elva and spouse Delores Craighton of Sacramento, CA,
Bruce and spouse Dolly Craighton of chlioquin, Oregon. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, and 3 who preceded her in death, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 who preceded her in death, and 66 great great grandchildren and 1 who preceded her in death, and 8 great great great grandchildren.
