Nonie Delap
June 13, 1948 - January 19, 2021
A bright ray of light illuminated Sanger Hospital when Wynona Faye Pascoe was born.
Her proud parents were John West Pascoe and Mamie Margaret (Powers) Pascoe. Nonie
would relay this radiance thousands of times throughout her inspiring 72 years. Those
who knew her well can attest to this experience.
She grew up in the Sanger area and as a product of the Award Winning Sanger School
District. Her 8th grade school year was in Fresno where she formed a lifelong friendship.
She returned to the Sanger/Del Rey area as Mamie was re-married to Roy Charles
Cornelius. Her family consisted of older step-brother and sister Harold and Wynoka;
older sister Wanda, younger siblings Kathy, Tommy, Mary, Wesley, Diane and Aggie.
During her education she developed many skills, including fashion, music, dancing, also
artistic abilities with fabric, wood and mixed media. She was talented equally with
interior and exterior environments, and church was enjoyment of God’s creation. Many
friendships established endure to this day, and as only Nonie could do she was a lifelong
friend with her delivery nurse.
Her career began in Fresno with very positive results and her many friends enjoyed their
time together. In 1970 she dated Lee Delap and they recently celebrated 50 years of
marriage September fifth. Once married, she continued her education at Reedley
College, studying Business and Finance along with family commitments. Nonie was an
excellent Mother for her two sons Carl and Chuck, making the household a neighborhood
favorite. Her home was an enjoyment center for family, friends, her pets, and many
projects.
Upon re-entering the workforce after starting a family, she was able leverage experience
in banking and Christian Brothers to pursue her passion, a career in the Wine Industry.
Opportunity came with Gibson Wine Company, a Cooperative and she progressed
through positions to Office Manager and loyally served many Boards of Directors and
Growers diligently for over 44 years. She had nearly 50 years of experience/service in
the Wine Industry, and was still employed full-time when she experienced a stroke
October 29th, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her father John West Pascoe and mother Mamie Margaret
Cornelius, step brother Harold Pascoe, sister Wanda Mae Barnes, and brother Wesley Joe
Pascoe, and son Charles “Chuck” Delap. She is survived by husband Lee, sisters
Wynoka, Kathy Wimpey, Mary Pascoe, Diane Glapenske, Aggie Beltran, brother Tom
Pascoe, many nieces and nephews. Her son Carl and wife Nancy along with
grandchildren Curt and Evelyn live in the Sanger area.
Nonie was loved by many friends, neighbors, growers, professionals from across the US,
Internationally and enjoyed membership in Corvettes of Fresno. A social-distance
Memorial Service will be held at Grace Community Church 11:00 am Friday February 12th. The address is 1620 Church, Sanger. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been established in association with Sanger Rotary
