Nelda June Nickels' Obituary
Nelda June Nickels was born in Morton, TX on february 20, 1938, died Oct 2, 2014.. She is survived by her beloved sister Freda Vierria, her 5 nieces and nephews, Debbie McDonald (Mike), Vickie Hopkins ( Dave Perault), Mike Vierria, Ross Vierria (Dawn) and John Vierria (Cynthia), 8 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great-great nieces, the Gawlas / Grimn clans and many precious friends. To Pati and Rena- play on suga. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1956. She joined the USAF in 1956 and was stationed at Westover Field in Massachusetts until 1959. While in the service she played basketball and softball on the base travel tieams and leard to play golf which she continued to play the rest of her life. She was a member of the Antelope Greens Ladies Club, serving as the rules chairman. In 1992 she retired from the California Highway Patrol, with 26 years of service as Telecom System Section Commander. A celebration of her life was held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd, Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Lung Association.
