Michael Rodthur Ward's Obituary
On May 20th, 2022, Michael Rodthur Ward died peacefully, in his sleep, of colon cancer. He was born 64 years prior in Baltimore City, Maryland, to his parents, Jean and Albert. He spent his youth in Baltimore, where he graduated from the Gilman School in 1976, eventually leaving to attend Harvard, where he concentrated in History and Science and played on the 1980 Ivy Championship winning lacrosse team.
Throughout his life, Michael was quick with a joke and quicker with a fact. As a young man, he won an episode of Jeopardy, and as an older man won several online trivia tournaments. As he aged, Michael imparted his considerable base of knowledge on to others, as a youth lacrosse coach, as a professor, as a friend, and as a mentor. His impact will be felt among those who loved, whenever an obscure fact is remembered, a long walk is had, or the Ravens take the field.
His memorial service will be held on June 5th, 2022 at 10:30 AM in El Dorado Hills CA. The details of an East Coast Service are to be announced. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ward, his son, Harrison Ward, and a strong Golden State Warriors playoff run.
