To the family of Matt McKee, I am truly sorry for your loss and want you to know how much Matt and your family mean to me. I had some very special times at your home in West Sacramento. Matt and I enjoyed spending time together during our middle school years, playing baseball catch (having my brother Steven being the base runner between our throws), shooting baskets at West Acre park, playing tackle or two hand touch football games with other neighborhood kids, swimming in the pool in your backyard or at James Marshall High School and riding his endure motorcycle. We both shared a love for baseball and would play whiffle ball games for hours. We would change off being players from the S.F. Giants and the Oakland A's. One special moment for us both was when we made the West Sacramento majors little league all star team.Matt was a very special friend to me during my childhood. When he moved away our sophomore year I was bummed out. We lost contact for a years but God had a plan for us to meet again. About 10 years ago we ran into each other and for this meeting I am forever grateful. We had a chance to re-connect and he became part of my family again. He would call me and my brother Steven to see how we were doing and we had many wonderful shares and lots of laughs. My brother Steven thought a lot of Matt and during his health and emotional challenges Matt was there to talk to him and support him. When Steven passed last year Matt was a big support and I hope he knew how much that helped my spirit heal. Matt was a very simple person, with a kind and gentle way. He was very intelligent and I loved his sense of humor. Over the last few years Matt was of service to me and my family at the Joey Lopes Crab Feed, a benefit for the Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California, and he found a joy in helping others. What I will remember about some of our phone conversations the last few years was when he called me brother and when he told me he loved me. I know my brother Steven has received Matt and they are playing catch and having a peaceful existence. Matt, I will miss your calls and thank you for the wonderful memories. My brother Matt, I love you and rest in peace.Silvestre J. Gilmete Jr.
