Matthew Lawrence Duran's Obituary
Matthew Lawrence Duran received his first set of wings April 20, 1973. He got his final set of Angel wings May 3, 2018.
He is survived by his wife Rita Duran, five blessed children, four brothers, one sister, 2 grandmas, his mother, lots of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends and family that loves him dearly.
Matt is a man of so many attributes that it would take an eternity to accurately describe him if there are such words to do so.
The things most enjoyed from him are: He is the best father to our five children. He guided with a firm loving way, he listened to them, allowed them freedom and taught them about life.
He is a true and loyal friend. If ever anyone needed him, he was there “cause that’s what ya do”. Never too busy nor too far. He offered an ear and supported everyone….even if he didn’t agree.
He is the brother and son that always came back and treated you better than deserved. Because that’s family….
He is the F U N uncle you could get in trouble with and it was your secret. Always pushing limits in a ‘safe’ manner. Never disrespected the ground rules, but made sure to enjoy bending them.
Last, but certainly the most important… Matthew is a man of God. He is a believer and came back to Christ. He would pray fervently and obediently to God every day. Matthew always walked with God while we were together. In fact, Matthew spoke from the book of Matthew often and would say, “That Matthew, he’s kinda smart!”. Yes, I learned to listen and head his council early on in our relationship. Matthew is the husband I didn’t know I needed, but knew I wanted. He is graceful and beautiful, kind and wonderful. His heart is pure and his soul is good. Always lived in LOVE and LIGHT!!
The party never started ’til he got there, yet he never liked the spotlight. He enjoyed attention, just not all focused on him. He would rather give all he had than take anything from anyone. His possessions never owned him. He found pleasure in the small things and the wonders of the worlds offerings. He loved being outside and in the presence of nature. The water is his home.
I could go on and on, but in short… this world was better having Matthew in it and our world is better having known Matthew is ours.
