Who was Mary Ann??
Mary Ann was blessed to live 77 earth years as a fun, loving, inspirational and caring woman...She later became a wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, grandmother, great grandmother and above all, a child of God..
Mary was born on a Saturday, December 26, 1942 to Betty Jean Doris Times and John Harrison Balorck in Humboldt, Tennessee..Mary resided in Tennessee for only a short while with her mom, dad and dad's family..
Shortly following her birth she and her mother took the long train ride West to where they both resided in Sacramento, California..
Mary grew up in Sacramento where she was surrounded by family and friends.. She attended schools in the Del Paso Heights School District where she then graduated at the age of 17 from Grant Joint High School in 1963..
Within the same year of 1963 she met and fell in love with a young man by the name of Dallas Walker, Jr..
Mary and Dallas fell in love and got married on her 18th birthday, December 26, 1963.
Mary was able to bless her husband Dallas with a beautiful son on August 18, 1964 of who the named Sterlyn Jerome Walker..
Five years later on November 15, 1969, Mary gave birth to their second child, a beautiful baby girl they named Starla Jeaneen Walker..
Mary was a stay at home wife and mother in the early 70's..
Mary worked for a brief time at the popular 49er drive in movie there in Sacramento, CA.
From there she worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant for 15 years where she retired from, Mission Oaks Convalescent Hospital in Carmichael, CA..
Mary really enjoyed taking care of the elderly patients..She was definitely a caregiver from the beginning..
One of her favorite pass times was crocheting blankets and sewing clothes for her family..She was very talented with a variety of different stitching styles she learned from one of her favorite aunts, Anita..She also enjoyed sewing clothes for herself, children, husband or family. She would also sew ties for her husband to wear to work and apply her own special touch to them..
Mary also enjoyed outdoor gardening as well as small in home projects from painting, paneling or tending to her in home plants or some sort of decorating..
She too was such a giving person that she would often give money or bags of recyclables to the homeless..
Mary would also enjoy spending time on the weekends with her husband, his brother and her sister in- law, Johnny Mae and Carnell Brown..It was either game night at the Walkers's or Brown's house on the weekends..She definitely enjoyed the family gatherings of playing cards, dominos and moreover, the cooking of food..If you knew Mary, you knew she enjoyed cooking and making people happy from her cooking..It was merely her way and expression of love, from her hands to your stomach..She was giving you a piece of her..Mary could cook absolutely anything and put her own twist to it. As her husband would say, her food would make you go and slap yo momma or somebody else's momma, lol..
Mary also loved, loved, loved without a doubt shopping on her favorite network, QVC. She would buy just about anything, I mean anything..From food, sweets, household products, anything that could be delivered and whatever her heart settled on..What she wanted, best believe she got it..
Mary was also a loving grandmother as well, a loving great-grandmother..She really loved and enjoyed her grandchildren..Moreover, being that GrandMother who was able to still express the motherly love she had and held onto..
As you can see, Mary held so many wonderful characteristics that became the layers of whom she was..She was fun..She was loving. She was caring..She was a nurturer and she was nurturing.
Mary was definitely a great person and one that always carried a big beautiful smile wherever she went..To have known Mary and to have been apart of her life's journey was nothing less than an addition to your life and a wonderful blessing..Mary was definitely a joy, greatly loved and will be forever missed..
Mary is proceeded in death by her husband Dallas Walker, Jr., son Sterlyn Jerome Walker, mother Betty Jean Doris Taylor, father John Harrison Balorck, brother Edward Boyd, Jr. sister Tammara Boyd, and brother Kiyatta Boyd.
Mary is survived by her loving and caring Daughter Starla Jeaneen Walker, Granddaughter Morgan Brittany Ann Marshall, Grandson Jahkari Allah Burney, Great-Granddaughter Dallas Brielle Harper, sisters Kimmyette Rucker, Gretchen Brooks, Pamela Gray and Angelique Wallace. An aboundance of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and friends..
