Mary Emma Brown's Obituary
Mary Brown passed away peacefully at Mercy San Juan Hospital, Carmichael on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Mary was 90 years old. Mary was born October 27, 1925 in Houston, TX to Willie and George Ardeneaux. After high school, she entered St. Joseph’s Nursing Academy, Houston, TX graduating with honors and a scholarship to Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where she specialized in obsteterics and premature natal care. In 1947, while at Marquette, she met and married Rolland “Bob” Brown who was serving as a flight engineer in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mary worked as a nurse on the various bases to which Bob was posted: Hanscom AFB, MA, Kindley Field, Bermunda, McClellan AFB, CA West palm Beach AFB, FL. After Bob died in 1957, Mary enrolled at Sacramento State College (now CSUS) to study social work. Employed by Sacramento County Soscial Services she supervised the county ATD and SAFDC programs until she retired in 1978. Mary will be rememberedfor her generosity, compassion and sense of humor by all who knew and loved her. Her brother LeRoy and George Ardeneaux predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Jeanne Brown-Judah and Arlene Sue Brown-Pengelly.
Friday, Dec. 18th at 1:00 PM Graveside service at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, Sacramento, 95838. Celebration and wake following at the Club House.
