Martin Velarde Sr., a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Connie; his children, Delia Velarde-Sanchez (Ron), Adella Soto (Mike), and Martin Velarde Jr.; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sara Flores.
Born on November 9 1941 in Fabens, Texas to Jesusita and Marcos Velarde, Martin later moved to Sacramento, California, where he married the love of his life, Connie Marez. He dedicated 42 years of service to the Campbell Soup Company and built a life centered on love and joy.
Martin took immense pride in his family and found great happiness in their company. He relished family gatherings, treasuring the time spent creating memories with those he held dear. His warmth and ability to bring people together were hallmarks of his life.
He loved traveling, camping, fishing, hunting and visiting the casino. A devoted sports fan, he cheered tirelessly for the Raiders and Sacramento Kings.
Martin will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his unwavering love, adventurous spirit and the joy he brought into their lives. His legacy of love and kindness continues to inspire everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
