Martha Louise Douglas' Obituary
Martha Louise Douglas was born in Sanderson, FL on December 7, 1932. She is the fourth of 10 children born to the late Reverend Dr. William Nathaniel Zanders, Sr. and the late Grace (Williams) Zanders. She attended the public school system of Orange County, FL.
Martha met and married the late Leslie L. Douglas in 1955, in Winter Park, FL; from this union there were 7 children.
Martha received her nursing degree from Allen Hancock College, Santa Maria, CA. She was an OB/GYN nurse at American River Hospital, Sacramento, CA until she retired in 1976.
Martha could always be found serving others in the community to include; president of the McClellan, AFB, CA Chapter of the Air Force Sergeants Association; Troop Leader of the Air Force Sergeants Association; Troop Leader of the Camp Fire Girls Junior Organization Blue Birds.
Martha accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at the Bethel Baptist Church of Winter Park, FL. Martha united with Shiloh Baptist Church on February 21, 2004. She attended Sunday School regularly, she was the class secretary of Sunday School class A-6, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Sunshine Committee, and a part of the knitting circle until her health began to fail.
Martha is survived by her children; Lynn Emukpoeru, Grace (Hollis) Mack, Willie (Cecil) Rowe, Leslie (David) Harding, Linda (Larry) Johnson, Lester Douglas, Sherri Douglas; Grandchildren; Evangaline Thompson, Tyrone Thompson, James (Camille) Burnley, Allison (Von) Loud, Mellissa (Brett) Chaffins, Martha Slater, Channel Walker, Michelle Walker, and Ifeoma Udemezue; 14 Great-grands; 1 Great-great grand; Sister, Nancy Green; Brothers, Eugene (jeanette) Zanders and Harold Zanders; several nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
Martha’s final resting place will be beside her beloved husband, Leslie, at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, Sacramento, CA.
