Marie Elizabeth Gangloff's Obituary
Marie E. Gangloff; Marie Claire, “Mimi” Mellina-Gangloff was the youngest of six sibling, born to Joseph Mellina of Palermo Sicily and Irene Crevier of Quebec Canada, in New York City November 21, 1926. Marie was the devoted wife of Thomas C. Gangloff, the mother of Thomas J. Gangloff, Elaine Gangloff-Johnson and Deborah Gangloff-Stocksen. She was the proud grandmother of Felicia Gangloff-Bailey, Chris Goulard, Amanda Barbeau, Dan Barbeau and David Barbeau, Melissa Stocksen-Jones, Brandon Stocksen and Brittany-Stocksen-Roberts. She was the happy great grandmother of six great-grand children. She also was a beloved aunt Mimi to many many nieces and nephews who were born in New York.
Marie was a longtime employee of U.C.D Medical Center, working as an office assistant in the Patient Escort Department. She enjoyed working in the hospital.
Upon retiring, Marie volunteered as a resource counselor at Francis House of Sacramento. She ministered to the chronic poor and homeless for a number of years which gave her great pleasure knowing she could help those less fortunate. Marie, through those times made many friends and was well liked and respected. She never lost her New York accent!
She was an active member of Holy Family Church and served often as president of the Catholic Ladies Relief Society, supporting her church family.
She stood up for what was right and lived her life with dignity. Those who knew her, up to her death at 89 years old, would agree that she was feisty and stood up for herself and those who needed defending.
Marie is now gone, July 24, 2016, but will certainly not be forgotten, being much loved and missed.
