Maliek Blake Jasper's Obituary
Maliek Jasper was born on August 7, 1999 to Dana Lawrence and Benny Jasper at St. Luke’s Hospital in San
Francisco, California joining his big brother Devin Jasper, who remarkably shares the same birthday.
Maliek was a beauful baby. His big bright eyes beamed light and added a joyful presence to the family. It was
clear when he was just a toddler that he would be the family comedian, unaware of how hilarious he truly was.
Having been blessed with that gi, Maliek could li the spirits of any who surrounded him, friends and family
alike, and make others laugh without even trying. This gi we will all miss profoundly.
Maliek’s athlecism was discovered at a young age and he was able to develop his skill playing pop-warner
football with his brother on a local team in grade school, no doubt inspired by his favorite football team, the San
Francisco 49ers. The family enjoyed watching the boys play football together.
Maliek graduated from High School in 2016 and took a running start towards the rest of his life! He knew what
he wanted right away – a family of his own. So, in the years that followed, Maliek met and fell in love with Jamila
Lensa and in February 2020 took her as his wife along with her beauful daughter, Mimi. Shortly thereaer, they
welcomed the birth of their son Amaree Asaahn, compleng their lile family. Maliek was a proud father to
both of his children and had big plans to do his best for them.
His mother Dana appreciates how Maliek could make her laugh… even when she was mad at him, it was never
for long because he’d always find a way to make her laugh ” Maliek was generous with his compliments and
making others feel good.” She misses his tenacity, that no maer how hard things got for him, he would get back
up, brush himself off and try again and that he always had a posive view of things.
His brother Devin loved and will miss how Maliek could make everyone laugh. His aunt LaShay and her son, and
his cousin Micah, remember fondly how determined Maliek was to finish whatever he started, even his
homework! He also taught Micah how to ride a bike. His Grandmother Gloria aka “GG” will miss his presence
when they took family trips together, playing cards and just being together.
His cousin JC had this to share: “My cousin Maliek had an incredible soul and a childlike innocence that was
infecous. I look back at the mes when we traveled on family vacaons and being together as youngsters in
Stockton, it just always felt like home. He was a great energy to have around. I’ll never forget one night when we
were out late in New York in Times Square, just laughing for hours and making the best memories. I’m blessed to
have those to reminisce on and will hold those dear to my heart.”
Maliek loved his family and he loved Jehovah God and was taking steps to reflect that in his life. Heartbreakingly,
Maliek took his last breath on October 11, 2021. He leaves behind to grieve his absence his wife Jamila Lensa
Jasper, his son Amaree Asaahn Jasper, daughter Marita “Mimi” Olebar, his mother Dana Lawrence and her
husband Elbert Veroan Lawrence, his father Benny Jasper, his brothers Devin Jasper, Benny Jasper Jr, Benny
Jasper Jr the III, and his sister Briyana Jasper, his grandparents Gloria and Harry McCoy, his aunts and uncles
LaShay and Freddie Berry, Javan and Tawana DeVore, Richard and Linda Bellamy, Rosero McCoy and John McCoy,
Medria Watson, Dereke Gray, Taneshia Smith, his great aunt Cynthia Thurston, his cousins, Jarre Wright, Micah
Berry, Ariane Maeberry , JC DeVore, Emile McCoy, Eric McCoy, Lola McCoy, his best friend Porschauy “Shay”
Caldwell and a host of other dear family and friends
