Lucille B. Patrick's Obituary
Lucille B. Patrick passed away peacefully January 16, 2017 at the age of 82. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Patrick, her daughter Cathy Patrick, her sister-in-law, Betty Moore, her niece Virginia Howard, her brother and sister-in-law Pete and Dora Patrick, her dear lifelong friend Jeanne Miller and her devoted caregivers Mary and Bill Barac. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Dessie Miller, her oldest daughter Debby Patrick (October 2016), her sisters Rosalie and June and her brother Johnny. Lucille was born and raised in Bryte, California where her father ran an auto repair shop out of the family garage. It was there that Lucille learned the virtue of hard work and the ability to work with her hands. She graduated from Woodland High School. During her senior year, she met her future husband Bill at a track and field meet. It was love at first sight and they have been inseparable ever since. They started a family and both Lucille and Bill took great pride in their two girls Debby and Cathy. As a stay at home mom Lucille was very active in their lives leading Brownies, Girl Scouts, 4-H and Bobby Sox. She created all of their Halloween costumes and due to his height and demeanor, Bill would dress up as Frankenstein and frighten all of the neighborhood children. Lucille reentered the workforce after the girls graduated from high school. She worked for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and the County Coroner’s Office for over twenty years. Lucille loved her 4-legged family. She adopted many stray dogs including Sabu, Sparky, Palance, Freeway, Peanut and various other creatures. She bred dogs for a time, but found it too difficult to part with the puppies. Lucille loved gardening, bowling and golf. She excelled in all areas. Her tomatoes were labeled “the tastiest in town”, she won several bowling trophies and even made a hole-in-one! She was an ace horseshoe player and earned the nickname Lefty Lu throwing a shoe. She also loved the annual family camping trips on the 4th of July at Independence Lake. She was a loving, beautiful, kind and dedicated mother, wife and friend. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will forever be with us. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Sunset Lawn, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95838. Immediately following will be a celebration of life at the American Legion Hall, 6700 8th St., Rio Linda, CA 95673. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA Sacramento and the Alzheimer’s Association.
