Louis Gongora's Obituary
GONGORA, LOUIS A., surrounded by his loving family passed away on May 16th, 2006, after a long battle with liver cancer. He was born February 12th, 1925, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was then brought to California by his parents at the age of three. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, son BooBoy Sr., daughter-in-law Jodi, and son David. He has three grandchildren BooBoy Jr., Cody and Kyla. Louie is also survived by four sisters, Sally Barellano (husband William), Florita Sober, Gloria Bacaylan (husband Joe), Linda Lota, and also sister-in-law Melly Bacaylan and brother-in-law Paul Bacaylan. He has countless nieces, nephews, and friends who gave him so much love during his lifetime. Louie was a wonderful and generous man who always believed in keeping his family close. In 1943, he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Infantry during Word War II. He was awarded two Bronze stars and a purple heart during his service in , Southern Philippines andLuzon . He was honorably discharged in January 1946. He worked as a civilian employee at McClellan Air Force Base for 30 years, retiring as a Production Controller Supervisor in 1983. He loved sports, was a huge Kings fan, and bowled in a league for over 30 years. The family invites you to attend a visitation Monday, May 22, 2006, from 4:00 to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home 4701 Marysville Blvd. Sacto., CA 922-5833. A funeral mass, Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 10:00 am at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish 3233 Arden Way, Sacto., CA. Burial will follow atSunsetLawnMemorial Park in theGarden ofHonor .
