I first met Lloyd and Wade in 1999 at the International Dodge Brothers convention in Bend, OR. I was there with my 1929 DB Victory6 and Lloyd had his 1919 Business Sedan. We soon found out that we lived close to each other and I had the privilege of seeing Lloyd's car collection in his "garage" in an industrial park nearby. Later on, Lloyd let me borrow his car trailer so I could take my '29 DB to Chico for a car show and save me a U-Haul rental. And over the next 16 years, whenever we met, we talked about Fords, DB and other vintage cars. I will miss those times but I still have the memories of Lloyd's cars, his humor but most of all – his big smile. To Wade and the rest of Lloyd's family, my heart is with you during this time and may God's loving grace be with you all.Bruce Leonard

Lloyd surprised me in 1998. I decided to sell my home in Sacramento, travel for a year and then move to the coast. One detail I hadn't figured out was what to do with a household of belongings while I was on "sabbatical" Lloyd offered to store my small mountain of belongings in the garage where he kept his auto collection. In exchange I would house sit and care for the garden while he and Wade travelled for a couple weeks. It was an extremely generous offer, on top of that I was able to stay with the two of them when I finished my journeys.I have many lovely memories for my time with Lloyd and Wade and I'll always be grateful for their generosity.Rest in peace dear Lloyd.

During my years with Gay Fathers of Sacramento, Lloyd was a wise and willing ear for all members from those seeking support as they explored their courage in living their life more honestly through those who had already experienced the power of accepting themselves fully and honestly. Lloyd was always there for the rest of the group, just as he was always there for Wade. He was also clear about his love and respect for his sons- newer members saw him as proof that the honesty of coming out did not preclude maintaining a strong and loving relationship with your children and with your family of origin. One of our key challenges in life is to be a productive member of our society and make contributions to the well-being of others. Lloyd did that and served as a role model for men earlier in their journey. I will continue to value him as a role model of a loving partner. loving parent, and loving community member. Ed Callahan
