Lien Thibich Doan's Obituary
Lien Thibich Doan
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, wife, sister, grandmother and best friend, Lien Thibich Doan on August 9, 2021. Lien was born on April 10, 1954 to parents Hue Doan and Lam Nguyen in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. She then moved to Saigon where she would grow up to become an elementary school teacher. In 1979, she, along with her husband Ngon Nang Pham, left her former life behind to make the long and brave journey to America to start a new life, eventually raising four children: Ngoc, Huy, Thao, and Diep. Through the years she dedicated most of her time to her two main passions - gardening and cake decorating, ultimately leading her to her career as a cake decorator at the Freeport Bakery where she worked for 25 years. Her love for her family was expressed in part through the countless hours spent in the kitchen cooking up unique and delicious healthy meals for them each day. When she was not in her kitchen or garden, she was always found bouncing around to all the local grocery stores and her favorite, Sunday Farmer's Market under the Interstate 50 freeway, in search of the tastiest and juiciest fruits. She was an amazingly loving, patient and hardworking woman who considered everyone her “best friend.” She is missed tremendously.
