GIBSON, Leslie LawrenceLeslie, age 95, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2006, at his home in Roseville. He was born September 8, 1911, in Waco, Texas. He had a typical day at Mistywood Retirement Center the day before. He went for a haircut, dinner, and played bingo the night before his passing. He was proud of the time he met former President Carter, who was a Lieutenant in the Navy when Les worked at Mare Island Ship Yards in Stockton. Later, he completed Barber School in Oakland and practiced in San Francisco and Stockton. Eventually, he became the owner of four barber shops in Sacramento. In 1977, he retired to be a caretaker for his wife and his two sisters. Leslie is survived by his daughter Brenda Jackson, grandsons Garrett, Stephen, and Jeremy Jackson, sister-in-law Clara Benbow Nelson, brother-in-law William Harper, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Regina, sisters Faye Lawson and Billie Forney, and son-in-law Milton Jackson, former NFL coach with the Baltimore Ravens. Leslie had a kind heart and will be missed by many. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, Nov. 3, and his funeral and burial service at 11:30 AM on Saturday, Nov. 4, at SUNSET LAWN CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES, 4701 Marysville Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95838, Ph. 922-5833.
