Lennie Marie Dodson's Obituary
Lennie Marie Blair Dodson passed on November 2, 2013 in Sacramento, CA. Marie was survived by her husband of 61 years Curtis L. Dodson, Sr., Brother Bill Blair (Arvada), Daughters Mona Hull, Linda Johnson (Steven), Cheryl Wagaman (Glen), sons Curtis Dodson II, and Jerry Sackett (Cathy) and great-great-niece Mariah Ramsey (Kayla). Marie was the grandmother of Brian Hull (Beth), Katrina Leney (Court), Samantha Blanco (Anthony), Kristen Wagaman, Melanie Dodson, Jason Sackett, Dominique Dodson, Ashley Sackett and Joseph Wagaman and great-grandmother to Angelia Hull, Brittney Hull, Jazmine Hull, Julian Dodson-Albay, Elissa Dodson-Albay, Tucker Hull, Jareth Hull, Lillian Blanco, Anthony Blanco, Jr., Jetta Leney and Olivia Blanco and many nieces and nephews. A native of Reed Springs, Missouri, Marie was the youngest of 11 children and came to California by train at the age of nine with her mother and several of her 10 siblings. Marie grew up running the streets of Sacramento and attended Dos Rios Grammar School and Grant Union High School before marrying Curtis Dodson at the age of 16. Marie was the Girl Scout Leader for 42 girls in North Sacramento and with the help of her wonderful friends and assistances, took them to Disneyland in the early ‘70s. Marie was also the Assistant Leader for her sons Scout Troop, and a Union Representative while employed as Cafeteria Worker and Baker in the San Juan Unified School District before retirement. She was passionate about all positions that she held in the community but was most passionate about her family and friends, her love of music, slot machines, bingo, the 49ers, and baseball and dancing. Marie was preceded in death by her Father Andrew J. Blair, Mother Lennie L. (Kirkendall) Blair, Brothers Joe, Roy, Robert “Pat”, Jack, James, Walter “Shorty”, and Zane Blair and Sisters Elvira Jean Wade and Alma “Polly” Haney. She will truly be missed. Services will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013, 1:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes (Sunset Lawn) on Marysville Blvd in North Sacramento. Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
