Laurence Frederick Finck
Was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on April 1, 1944
Passed away in Rio Linda, California on March 3, 2020
Early Tuesday morning, March 3, 2020, my gift from God, died in my arms.
On April 1, 1944, the cutest little boy was born to parents Earl and Alvina Finck. They named him Laurence Frederick Finck after an uncle who died in World War II. Laurence was known to his wife and daughters as Larry. Larry was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The ninth child born out of 11. Larry was preceeded in death by a set of twins and triplets, his older sister, Mildred Hiney, and brother-in-law, Jerry Nuffer
After graduating from high school in the small town of Valley Springs, South Dakota, he entered the Air Force branch of service. Out of his four years of service, three and a half were spent at Mather AFB in Rancho Cordova, California, as a military police officer. Six months before being discharged, Larry met the love of his life, Irene Evelyn Valle, in June 1966 at the Liki Tiki. Irene loved Larry at first sight.
On April 27, 1968, they were married in Rio Linda, California. Married nearly 52 years, they had two daughters. First born daughter, Sabrina Valle Carden, married to Tim #1. Together have two girls, Madison Michelle and Gabrielle Elise Carden. Second born daughter, Vanessa Valle Sedlock, married to Tim #2. Together they have two sons, Jack Laurence (named after Larry) and Joseph Michael Sedlock.
Additional surviving relatives include Larry's two sisters, Mildred Nuffer and Mary Hall. His two brothers, Dave Finck and his wife Mary and William Finck and his wife Diane, as well as many nieces and nephews.
During our marriage, Larry worked at McClellan AFB as a civilian police officer and truck driver. Within that time, Larry officiated adult sports for 20 years. After retiring from the base in 2000, Larry became the nanny for Gabrielle, Jack and Joey. Larry was recognized pushing Joey in his stroller while picking up Gabrielle and Jack from Preschool.
For the last decade, on Saturdays, you could find Larry at East Lawn Florist helping our family friend, Jim Miller. He enjoyed helping at the shop as a delivery driver. A little secret, he starting going to the Shop to be near his wife who was already helping on Saturdays.
Larry deeply loved his wife and daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren and honored God with his care of them. Larry was very deeply loved, cherished and will be missed until we all are reunited.
