Larry Lee Sterkel's Obituary
On July 17, 2017 Larry passed away from pneumonia. He was born July 28, 1956 to Beverly Lela Blansett and Henry Joe Sterkel and boy, was he tough. Being born with Down Syndrome, Larry was not supposed to have made it from the hospital where he was born, but he showed the world how strong he was and lived to the age of 61. As a young boy Larry enjoyed riding his bike. One time in particular Larry went for an adventure all the way from Ascot Avenue to Watt and A streets. He was given a ride home by officers that thought for sure he was lost and that he did not know his way home. They must have been real surprised when they pulled up to the house to find that he had rode his bike that far. Larry also enjoyed going around the neighborhood as a child knocking on doors and getting special treats for himself and his siblings from all the neighbors. It was a game that his brothers and sister referred to as Knock Knock. He has two brothers, Gary and Terry and a sister, Linda Bell. Larry also enjoyed the firework displays for his birthday and spending time with family. He always had a smile on his face as long as you gave him a soda and not water.
He will be forever missed by family and friends.
