Kenneth Dean Sisler Sr.'s Obituary
Kenneth Dean SislerJuly 20, 1920 – December 16, 2011Born in Two Harbors, MN, moved to elverta, CA in 1927. Graduated from Grant HS, spent 2 years at Grant Tech where he played baseball. He was heading to the St. Louis Cardinals Farm league program when he was drafted and joined the US Army Air Corps. 2nd Lt. Ken Sisler flew C-47s in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations while stationed in Italy. He flew 17 missions in Yugoslavia before the war ended. He then served one more year in Colorado where he played baseball for the Air Force. When he got back to the ranch, he helped his parents and worked as a carpenter.Ken met his first wife Margaret Bambery and had four children. He later started Sisler Construction, built many projects around Sacramento for 60 years and was respected by all. He could be seen at The Cricket often for breakfast enjoying buckwheat pancakes with friends and family. Besides baseball, he enjoyed golf, deer hunting and motocross. His passions in life were his family, his work and his sports. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. We were blessed to have had him for so long and he will be deeply missed.He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret and first daughter Kathleen Sirovy. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joan, his daughters Maureen (Jim) Hagar, Maryanne (Paul) Prewitt, son Kenny (JoAnne) Sisler, son-in-law George Sirovy, step daughters Kathy (John) Mast, Debbie Hagberg, seven grandchildren Garrick (Nancy) & Jared (Shelby) Meeker, Joe (Theresa) & Margie Sirovy, Kylene & Kenny III Sisler, Evan Hagar, four step grandchildren, Alysia & Justin Prewitt, Leah White & Lauren Mast, four great-grandchildren, sister Virginia Chapman, brother Ray Sisler, and many nieces and nephews.A graveside service with military honors will be held at Sunset Lawn, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento on Dec. 23, 2011 at 10:00am. Family and friends will gather after.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: Wounded Warrior Project , 4899 Belfort Road, Ste. 300, Jacksonville FL 32256.
