Keith Ray Blake's Obituary
Keith Ray Blake
Keith Ray Blake, age 61, peacefully passed away Monday, August 29th, 2022, at his home in Elverta, California.
He was born June 23, 1961 in Huntington, West Virginia to Ray and Wanda (McKnight) Blake. As a toddler, Keith’s parents moved to the Sacramento area in Northern California where he would remain except for a 5-year move to Hawaii with his wife and children.
Keith graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1979. After High School Keith worked for RC Cola, Progressive Circuits, Miller Carpets, Ray Higdon Construction Inc., On-Trac (formerly California Overnight), as well as Drunk Guy Construction where he was the Owner, Foreman, and Crew.
Keith will be remembered for his big personality, his hearty laugh, and a wicked sense of humor. He was a prankster and loved making people smile. He loved barbeque and listening to rock n roll by the ‘80s big hair bands while enjoying a Bud Light or his “Jack and Coke”. Keith had a kind heart and made certain he was on hand daily to help when his second Dad came down with cancer, as well as ensuring he had dinner with his loving Mom, whom he adored, every Wednesday. His most cherished role in life, however, was that of Dad and Grandpa. Keith loved children and would get down and play in the floor with them or in the pool as they got older. His home and heart were open to all. Keith is missed deeply and will never be forgotten.
Keith is survived by his Mom, Wanda (McKnight) Higdon of Rio Linda; his two sons, Ray Blake of Elverta, and Darick Blake of Sacramento, as well as niece Ashley (Lewis) Holloway-Mefford of Sacramento, and nephews Brian Higdon of Rancho Cordova and Kyle Smith of Chowchilla whom he helped raise. Also surviving are five siblings, Kelvin Blake of Rio Linda, Barbara Higdon-Burwell of Hawley, Texas, Connie Higdon-Holloway of Elverta, Larry Higdon Jr. (Pam) of Citrus Heights, and Michelle Higdon of Antelope, as well as two grandchildren, Kylah Blake, and Lily Higdon in addition to more nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Preceding Keith in death were both of his Dads, Ray Blake and Larry Higdon.
Keith wished to be cremated so his wish will be honored. To celebrate Keith’s life, a gathering will be held Saturday, September 10th, 2022 @ 12pm, at the American Legion Hall in Rio Linda, California.
