Justin Michael Reaves' Obituary
Celebration of Life for Justin Michael Reaves
Justin Michael Reaves was born on July 20th, 1986 to Tanya Reaves and Rick Reaves at Kaiser Permanente, Sacramento, California. On June 28th, 2023, Justin passed away at Mercy General hospital with his mother, Tanya at his side.
At the age of thirteen, Justin received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending Calvary Christian Center. He was a 2003 graduate of Center High School at the age of sixteen and excelled in all academic subjects receiving a four year scholarship to Morehouse College. After completing his first year of college in Atlanta, Georgia, he returned to Sacramento and enrolled in courses at Sacramento State. Justin was a sports enthusiast and played baseball and basketball from elementary school through high school. In baseball, he worked very hard to excel in the positions of pitcher and first baseman. Justin was a shooting guard for the Center High Cougars and in his final playoff game of his senior year he hit and swished seven three point shots! It was always a proud moment with fun and excitement watching him play sports.
Justin’s strength was his communication skills. He never met a stranger and made everyone around him comfortable in his presence. He could hold a conversation on many topics but followed the sports talk shows every day. He loved to debate with his friends and family wearing you down in the end. His friends all say he was the connection between all of them. He brought everyone together and his presence made everyone from different backgrounds and ages interact with enjoyment.
Every job position Justin held had communications and customer service at the forefront. He was a sandwich maker at Togos and a server at Burgers and Brew. He worked for Apple for five years in Sacramento and Austin, Texas as an online product sales technician. He did retail sales at the Good Feet store and car sales both when he moved to Portland, Oregon. Recently, Justin did temporary work in rental offices for various apartment complexes in the North Sacramento area.
Justin is preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles T. Thompson, Milton Reaves and Alma Reaves, by his uncles: Albert Reaves, Charles Reaves, and Quintez Carey.
He is survived by his mother, Tanya Reaves and his father, Rick Reaves, Alicia Reaves (wife) and sister, Crystal May (DeQuese). He is also survived by his grandmother, June Thompson, Uncles: Dana Thompson (Freida), Kevin Thompson (Gina), Daryl Thompson (Shaynne), James Leon Williams, Milton Reaves, Jr., Lorenzo Reaves (Denise), Aunts: Patricia Carey, Cynthia Dews (Bill), and Shirley Jackson ( Robert) along with many, many cousins!
