Joyce L. Risney's Obituary
Joyce Risney was born on a farm outside of Logan, Kansas on April 25, 1940. The Lord called her home at the age of 80 years on March 20, 2021 in Rocklin, California.
Joyce was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Harry Risney and by her parents Joseph and Clara Jakubowski of Phillipsburg, Kansas. She is survived by her children Mark (Christine) and Michael (Claudia) as well as grandchildren Jessica, Justin, and William. In addition, she also leaves behind her twin sister Joan Sinz (Larry), niece Theresa Hayden (Bill) and nephew Leonard Sinz (Therese).
She graduated from Logan High School in 1958 and became a Registered Nurse in the early 1960's. While attending Nursing School in Kansas, she caught the eye of a young Airman stationed nearby - Harry Risney. They married in 1961 after he promised to show her the world if she married him. They saw a little bit of that world over his twenty years in the Air Force including postings in France, Germany and Texas before finally settling in Sacramento, California in 1978. Joyce continued her Nursing career throughout all this time until finally retiring in 1996.
Joyce never completely left the farm behind as she always had a small garden for strawberries, small vegetables, and flowers. She was an avid dog lover. She also liked to sew - particularly Barbie clothes for her niece.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 on April 16, 2021 at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd, Sacramento, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in tribute to Joyce Risney with the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help cure Parkinson's Disease.
