Josephine Zapata Hernandez's Obituary
Josephine ‘Josie’ Zapata Hernandez, 59, entered into eternal peace on Monday, January 27, 2014, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Josie was born on March 19, 1954, daughter of the late Manuel and Trinidad Barraza. She graduated from Grant Union High School in 1973 and was a homemaker. She loved dancing, playing cards, shopping, watching movies, cooking for her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was an extremely kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She was an exceptional woman that brought happiness and laughter to those around her. She always had a smile on her face; despite the fact she endured an enormous amount of pain. Josie always showed strength and courage no matter the circumstance; a true inspiration, some would call her their Hero.
Josie was preceded in death by her mother, Trinidad Acosta Barraza; her father, Manuel Barraza; her aunt Flora Acosta; and her longtime friend, Dolores Pille.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; devoted husband, Rojelio Hernandez; her loving children, Placido Hernandez, Luz Keliikuli, Fidel Hernandez, Josephine Guillen, Manuel Hernandez, Guadalupe (Jeff) Sweet, Victoria Hernandez and Trinidad Hernandez; her adoring grandchildren, Antony Guillen, Veronica Keliikuli, Nathaniel Keliikuli, Adriana Guillen, Lillie Sweet and Jeffery Sweet Jr.; her faithful dogs, Chico and Oscar; and her numerous loving family and friends.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1951 North Avenue, Sacramento, California on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 4701 Marysville Boulevard, Sacramento, California.
