Elizabeth Dixon
Jordan my handsome, baby faced, cutest smile, big hearted, caring, sometimes pain in the butt neighbor who called me aunty. Jordan was my nephews best friend. He lived around the corner from us. I guess you can say I was the aunty in our neighborhood whom all the kids called when they needed a ride, a place to stay the night, girl advice, if their clothes and shoes matched, help with homework, role play for job interviews. I would hear how they would meet these hot chicks at the mall and how nervous they were to ask for their number. Jordan was my favorite. I remember when he introduced me to his daughter. So pretty. His little me. They would walk or take the buss to the library. When it rained I gave them a ride. Then one day he introduces me to this girl because she needed to use my bathroom. Little did I know I would be meeting two little twin boys 9 months later. I know he loved his children. He tried to be a good parent. He was so young. I told him try your best to get along with babies momma's. That way you will always be a part of your kid's life. He agreed. But sometimes it's hard even for adults. Everyone has their ups and downs. Sometimes I wouldn't hear from anyone for months. I remember getting a call from Jordan telling me he's been sober for two months and he's back at home. That night we took him out to dinner to celebrate. Instead of being a ginny pig to my cooking. Lol - That was the last time I saw him, listened to him, laughed with him, hugged him and told him I loved him face-to-face. We eventually moved out of that neighborhood. Then out of the blue, many years later, I get this text message from an unknown number...
Aunty???
Who is this???
It's Jordan Aunty.
Jordan OMG.....How are you?
I'm doing really good Aunty. I've changed my life for the better.
Call me right now please. I want to hear your voice.
We talked for over an hour. We caught each other up with our lives. He always asked about my son. He protected him like you would protect your baby brother. All the older boys in the neighborhood looked out for the little ones.
Jordan, my nephew, my neighborhood kid, I will miss you dearly. I am so sorry God needed you early. I love you so much and will always love you. Rest in peace son. You will never be forgotten. Your smile will stay with me forever. I'm sure Grandma Dixon already took you under her wings.
Frank I am so sorry for your loss. I know one thing, Jordan loved you and always wanted to better himself to make you proud.
Love and Kisses and Hugs until we meet again.
Your Aunty Always,
Aunty Irene
